Matt Jones is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT) and has been training clients for over 10 years. With a focus on Functional Fitness, he went beyond traditional training and obtained a certification as a Medical Fitness Specialist (NASM-CES). Matt has been training clients for over 10 years and understands the importance of tailoring programs to each person's individual needs.
His passion for physical conditioning began in his mid to late 20s while working for the YMCA. He has always been an athlete and after his collegiate baseball career ended, he continued pursing fitness as a career. However, he was lured away from training by corporate America with the promise of making a lot of money. He was “miserable and learned the hard way that money doesn’t always make you happy.”
After a lot of soul searching he quit his job and found himself pursuing his passion by studying again for a training certification. This time, he challenged himself with one of the toughest nationally accredited certifications, the American College of Sports Medicine.
“Working out and staying fit has been such a huge part of my life. It has given me drive and focus, helped me with grief, and given me control of my life at times when it felt out of my control. I love what it has done for me and I love seeing what it can do for others.”
Prior to CKC Fitness, Matt was training people in the gym. However, he felt limited on what he could do for clients. As he explains, “It’s called scope of practice…Not everybody adheres to it, but I did. I was able to help a tremendous amount of clients meet their goals, from weight loss to increased strength and muscle mass, to self-confidence, and self-discipline. However, when it came to more complicated orthopedic issues, my hands were tied… and that was really frustrating.”
“After being trained by Dr. David Luedeka in CKC Fitness, I’m able to handle a plethora of structural and functional challenges a patient might face. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do that and now I can help more people than I would have ever imagined. This is truly my passion and my mission…to help others help themselves through fitness.”
